How does it work?

The video demonstrates an example of a spinning sample wheel that rotates at the speed of 300 rounds per minute (RPM). This demonstrates how fast MIDWAVE Spectrometer is able to acquire spectral information of different plastic foils, showing the potential for in-line monitoring.

Using this spectral information, we are able to identify the material and scan for defects, test the optical and surface properties, and deliver lab grade insight to the production facility.

Measurement Case - Capturing Plastic Foil Spectra in real time

We have performed a mid-infrared transmission spectroscopy on four different plastic films: polystyrene, freeze bag, saran wrap and packaging film. Even with high speed of the spinning sample, MIDWAVE Spectrometer is able to capture the spectral signatures of each film efficiently.
